I obviously have an obsession with little (or long) black dresses, given the name of this blog (hint, LBD). A black dress is classic and always chic. Nothing makes me feel more elegant than a little black dress, high heels and understated jewelry.

Personally, i’ve always been drawn to black dresses that have a subtle design detail, like a cut-out in an unexpected place, a low back or buttons/hardware. These details add a little something interesting to an otherwise blank canvas. Some of my go-to brands for black dresses are Enza Costa, Privacy Please, Norma Kamali, Reformation, and Express.

The dress I find myself reaching for the most in my closet is the strapless Norma Kamali dress below. I usually pull my hair back in a low bun, throw on some long earrings, add a smokey-eye with a nude lip and that’s it. It’s the easiest but one of the most eye-catching and dramatic looks you can wear. The best part is that the dress is $125, a reasonable price for the peace of mind of knowing you have something up your sleeves for any event that comes up on your calendar.
