As someone who is petite, I have spent hours searching for jeans that fit my frame. There have been so many times when I walked into the dressing room with ten pairs of jeans and none of them fit quite the right way. They’re either too long or make me look too frumpy in the waist. I have a petite figure so I want to make sure that my jeans are tailored to my body without costing a fortune. After years of perfecting my shopping technique, I’ve discovered a few tips that help me find the best petite denim jeans. Tips for finding the best petite denim jeans:
♥ Many brands now have petite denim lines that fit really well. Some of my favorite brands for petite denim are Topshop, Express, Abercrombie, and Reformation. If I’m looking for a new denim style like a straight leg jean or boyfriend shape, I always look at these brands first. On a side note, Abercrombie is back in a major way and their denim is priced well and fits great.
♥ If a petite line is not available, go for an ankle cut so you can avoid tailoring later. I also prefer high-waisted jeans to give the illusion of longer legs.
♥ A basic wardrobe should have a pair of black, grey and blue jeans, whichever wash you prefer. Black jeans with an oversized blazer and t-shirt is pretty much my life uniform. My absolute favorite pair of black jeans under $100 are these from Topshop. They come in regular and petite sizing and hug every curve.
♥ Find a pair of ankle jeans that look great with sneakers and boots. You want just a little bit of skin to show between the hem of your jeans and the beginning of the shoe. These are my favorite.
♥ Experiment with different styles. Skinny jeans may have worked for you in the past but you may find that straight leg jeans work even better. Before thinking that a certain style doesn’t work on your frame, go to a brick and mortar store and try them on to decide for yourself. You may be pleasantly surprised!
